This piece entitled Bridge at Sunset was inspired by the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, CA. The pictures don't do justice of how beautiful it is in person. I wanted to capture that essence by painting from memory rather than a photo to mesh in the qualities I saw that photos can't capture.

I created this by using a standard 8 color water palate. I began with a light yellow wash on the page and added in more and more color to give dimension and depth to the picture. My goal for this piece was to create the vibrancy and vividness of a west coast sunset.

 Bridge at Sunset
Straight from a Magazine

This piece was inspired from a model in a magazine for a makeup ad. I chose this picture to convey the message of "is beauty only skin deep?" The intention for the message is to showcase that things like makeup or magazine editing are not the things that make you beautiful, but rather the art as a whole - the person

I created this piece by using a grid to map out the subject matter's prominent features and adding details as it developed. I used a regular number two pencil as well as shading pencils in values 4 and 6

Flowers in the Attic

This piece was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh and his famous painting entitled "Sunflowers." This is my favorite painting because it elicits emotion without words or facial connotation. The painting gives off a sense of happiness and hope by using the bright color scheme and connecting it to a symbol of hope and happiness.

The media I used for this is acrylic paint. I started by lightly mapping my flowers on the canvas and layering different variations of one color to make them have more of an impressionistic look.

Elements and Principles

This is a Harry Potter Inspired version of the Elements and Principles. I chose to make it Harry Potter themed because it is my favorite book series. It was a nice variation of portraying these characteristics of art.

The media I used was colored pencil and poster board. I started by tracing the golden snitch onto the paper repeatedly with a number 2 pencil. Then I went back in to sketch how an element and principle could change the subject matter. I then used layers of colored pencil to show color variation

Diagon Alley

This piece is a 2 point perspective of a city, modeled after Diagon Alley from the Harry Potter books/movies. I chose this theme because it was something different to make the piece have variation and stand out to the viewer. the shops and architecture are pretty much the same as the movies.

The materials I used for this was paper, a number two pencil, and a long ruler. I started out by outlining the buildings by the sides and corners, then adding doors along with details.

Beauty and the Beast

This piece is a reflection, modeled after the rose of the west wing, as seen in Beauty and the Beast. It shows the rose reflecting of the glass dome as the petals start the shed. I chose this subject because it is my favorite Disney movie and I love the message that the piece represents.

I used a white colored pencil on black construction paper. I used these materials to show an inverted variation of a classic picture.
